As the parent of a Woolley Elementary School student, you are an important part of our Woolley family! Our school reaches beyond our walls and into our community, where we all live, work, and play. We all know that school plays an important role in creating the right learning environment for our students, but as a parent you play the most important role in your child's academic success. We often get questions about how parents can ensure their child's success in school, so here are a few tips for how we can work together to provide the best opportunities for our children:

  • Academic achievement starts at home and continues when our students walk in the door, which means every parent and student must take school attendance seriously. Being present and on time each and every day ensures that students understand the importance of education and don't miss out on any of the day's academic lessons. Studies have found that students who miss more than 2-3 days per year struggle academically.
  • Children are more likely to achieve academic success when provided a quiet, comfortable place at home to complete homework. Encourage your child to show you his or her homework once it is complete, and emphasize the value in attending school and becoming an active participant in their own learning.
  • Children mimic the adults in their lives. Setting good examples and reading with your child each day (both for pleasure and for information) shows that the things they learn in school are both a useful and fun part of everyday life, even as an adult!
  • We want to hear from parents about our students' individual learning needs. One way to start this conversation is by volunteering in the classroom and communicating regularly with school staff.
  • We encourage families to take time at home to learn together. The "Learning at Home" page of this website has many suggestions to get you started!

We are honored to have you as a part of the Woolley family and take your child's success very seriously. By working together, we can live up to our goal of ensuring that each and every child has an educational experience that allows them to reach their goals and dreams!
